The Club and our parent Association the Lancashire Aikikai follow the BAB's Child Safeguarding & Protection policy (CSPP). (Principles & Responsibilities)

Our responsibility is to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who has been entrusted to our care. All young people under the age of 18 years come within this policy and best practice.

We are also committed to working to provide a safe environment for all members and so also follow the BAB Vulnerable Adults Safeguarding and Protection Policy (VASPP). (Guidance on the Policy)

The CSPP policy is expanded by Supplementary Documents to provide detail and guidance - each topic is a separate pdf file. Particularly noted by CSPP :-

  • Safeguarding Principles & Responsibilities,
  • Safeguarding Structure within the BAB.
  • Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).
  • Accusations of Child Abuse.
  • Child Transport, Late Collection & Missing Child – Responsibilities.

Club's position on:-

Photography / Videoing of those under 18 is not generally permitted except by the Club in line with the British Aikido Board's policy & the Club's social media policy.

 

Electronic Communication: Club members will not use Social Media, messaging, phones or email to communicate with Children who are or have been members of the Club. Further guidance is given by in the British Aikido Board's policy & the Club's social media policy

.......... on safeguarding and protection issues. Unless to do so would place a child at risk of harm your first point of contact should be our Club Welfare Officer (CWO)

We will ensure that: 

  • all adults who come within scope of "regulated activity" will undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Coaches hold up-to-date British Aikido Board coaching qualifications and current insurance cover.
  • Coaches follow a national Code of Conduct.
  • Coaching qualifications are verified.
  • Coaches and Volunteers have access to induction training that covers current Child Safeguarding & Protection Policies and Procedures.
  • Where the conduct of a coach or volunteer falls below the standards we have set we will take the disciplinary action necessary to protect young people.

The Club and Aikikai will fully support and protect any member who in good faith reports concerns that another member is, or may be abusing a child.
